The Vacancy
Here at Wates, we have an exciting opportunity for a Repairs Supervisor to join our Responsive Maintenance team in the South Derbyshire area on a permanent basis, managing our day-to-day repairs.
As the supervisor, you will be leading from the front, overseeing quality control, and working closely with operatives in accordance with Health and Safety standards. This role ensures good working practices for planned works within both Public and Private sectors.
Since the role involves both site and office work, a clean driving license is required to facilitate travel.
Key Accountabilities
1. Working closely with the team and allocating work daily
2. Attending pre-inspection works and advising operatives on job specifics
3. Conducting post-inspection works and inspecting operatives’ workmanship
4. Ensuring large multi-trade jobs are scheduled properly, with checks on trades and timeframes, and determining if pre-inspections are needed
5. Responding effectively to variation requests from operatives, adhering to client rules and procedures
Candidate Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of SSSTS certification (SMTS is preferred but not essential). Experience in social housing, particularly in planned or reactive works, is required. Trades in kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, or electrics are highly desirable.
Due to the nature of the position, a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required at offer stage. We evaluate applicants with criminal convictions on a case-by-case basis and do not discriminate based on criminal records. Additional pre-employment checks may also be applicable.
