Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Depot Manager to lead our Birmingham depot, specialising in powered access equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on operational efficiency, team management, and delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage daily depot operations including equipment availability, maintenance and logistics.
* Lead and motivate a team of engineers, drivers, and support staff.
* Monitor and report on key metrics:
* Machines under PDI, repair, available and under collection
* Responsibility for depot P&L
* Weekly fuel usage and transport activity
* Equipment utilisation and lost opportunities
* Ensure compliance with health & safety standards and company procedures.
* Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through timely deliveries and collections.
* Support HR functions including managing sickness, holidays, training and recruitment.
Requirements
* Experience in powered access, plant hire or related industries.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Operational knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and maintenance schedules.
* Ability to manage KPIs and drive performance improvements.
* Previous experience with the reporting of depot P&L
* Customer-focused with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Previous hire desk / transport experience
