We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to the position of Forensic Support Officer at Saint Mary’s Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), to provide practical and administrative support to the forensic service.
This is a full-time position, typically working between 0900-1700.
The successful applicants will receive full training to support the needs of the forensic service.
You should have some previous experience in a clinical or laboratory environment. High standards are essential at Saint Mary’s, so the role requires excellent organisational, record-keeping skills, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to the Crisis Worker team in practical and administrative tasks.
2. Ensure forensic integrity and cleanliness of the forensic suite following examinations.
3. Assist in managing forensic stock, including ordering, stock checks, and rotation.
4. Assist in the storage and management of forensic samples and evidence.
5. Conduct regular checks of the forensic suites.
The post requires proficiency in computer use for maintaining accurate records. The candidate must be comfortable working in personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods and willing to have an elimination DNA sample taken and held on the database for the duration of employment plus 24 months. A DBS check is also required, with renewals during employment.
