Salary: £29,770 – £31,732 p.a. (Local Government Pension Scheme)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Full year, 27 days’ annual leave)
Ready to make a genuine impact on students’ futures? Our client—a highly regarded Further Education college—is seeking a committed Careers Adviser to join their dynamic Student Services team.
About the Role
As a Careers Adviser, you’ll provide high-quality impartial advice and guidance (CEIAG) to students and apprentices—helping shape their next steps towards apprenticeships, university, employment or training. Your role will involve:
1. Delivering 1:1 careers guidance sessions and developing action plans for each individual.
2. Designing and delivering engaging group sessions (UCAS, CVs, job applications, employability, interview techniques, LMI).
3. Supporting the creation and maintenance of an online Careers Hub and resource bank.
4. Assisting with UCAS applications and researching progression opportunities.
5. Accurately recording all work on college data systems.
6. Providing visible support at college events—open evenings, careers fairs, enrolment, and more.
What We’re Looking For
7. Level 6 qualification in Careers Guidance & Development.
8. GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent).
9. Demonstrated experience delivering impartial careers support to young people and adults.
10. 1:1 careers advice and group session delivery skills.
11. Strong knowledge of post-16 & post-19 education, skills and employment pathways.
12. Confident IT and digital communication skills (Microsoft Office, Zoom/Teams).
Desirable:
13. Relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert. Ed).
14. Experience in the education sector and knowledge of widening participation agendas.
15. Creative use of technology (graphic/video apps) to create engaging CEIAG resources.
16. Familiarity with VLEs (e.g. Moodle) and use of social media in guidance.
