Job Title: Head of Platform Engineering (Azure) Location: East Cheshire – Hybrid Salary: Up to £125,000 Currently partnered with a scale up SaaS company in the Data space who're looking to bring it's Cloud / Platform engineering function in house through migrations, growth and stabilising its in-house platform engineering function. Team of 5 DevOps engineers. 60% Strategic / 40% on Azure migrations, and Architecture. Job Overview: Seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Platform Service to lead a small, dynamic team of DevOps professionals. In this leadership role, you will drive the architecture, automation, and security of our platform while working closely with key external partners. Your deep expertise in Microsoft Azure and platform engineering will be crucial to the scalability, security, and continuous improvement of our services in a highly regulated environment. Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a small, high-performing team of DevOps engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Design and oversee the implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient platform architecture within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem. Spearhead Azure automation initiatives, optimizing deployment pipelines and infrastructure management to ensure continuous delivery and operational excellence. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure seamless integration and reliable service delivery across platforms. Ensure the application of robust Azure security practices, prioritizing data integrity, compliance, and risk mitigation in a highly regulated environment. Lead the creation and ongoing improvement of platform monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures to ensure service availability and reliability. Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, with a focus on driving innovation in platform engineering and automation. Act as a subject matter expert on Microsoft Azure, cloud security, and platform reliability within the organization. Required Skills and Experience: Proven leadership experience in managing DevOps teams, with a focus on cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure. Deep understanding of Microsoft Azure, including Azure Automation, architecture, and security best practices. Hands-on experience in designing and managing scalable cloud infrastructure and services, with a strong emphasis on automation and CI/CD pipelines. Strong expertise in Azure security frameworks, risk management, and compliance, with a focus on highly regulated industries. Ability to drive complex technical initiatives, balancing strategic goals with practical implementation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach to achieving platform excellence. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or similar. Desirable Skills: Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes. Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, MiFID II) and their application to cloud platforms. Experience managing relationships with external partners, third-party vendors, and service providers.
