Description Due to ongoing project growth and the position of Senior Cost Engineer is required on a landmark Energy project in Teesside As the Senior Cost Engineer you will work within the project controls team and be responsible for cost control and forecasting. You will have a central role in the application for payment, earned value management and weekly and monthly reporting. Providing insight into variances between planned and actual costs and recommendations for mitigations. You will use your knowledge and experience to support the most efficient and effective delivery of the project. The role is based in Teesside with a requirement to be on site as a minimum 3 days a week. Responsibilities Monitor, control and analyse the project cost information, identify variances and bring these to the attention of the Project Manager with possible alternatives. Prepare specific reports to facilitate challenge and analysis to meet the project’s specific needs. Collate, check and provide Costain staff costs to the commercial team for the application for payment Provide actual costs versus planned for CPI calculation Provide weekly and monthly cost and hours reporting, planned, actuals and forecasting Ensuring the basis of Estimates at Completion (EAC) is predicted using industry recognised approaches, including but not limited to, the latest resourced schedule and EVM productivity as to ensure accurate, reliable and consistent forecasting; Provide insights on variances and trends for management intervention Coach/support junior members of the team. Ensure the necessary cost management interface is in place with Finance and commercial and ensure regular communications. Support change Management and the incorporation of change into the relevant Cost Management project artefacts. Support to the management of contingency. Review labour bookings and cost allocation in line with agreed project cost allocation principles Qualifications Degree/HNC/HND ideally in quantity surveying or construction / engineering related discipline or relevant experience. Experience in a similar role on a complex project- ideally Energy Able to demonstrate expertise of Excel and should have had exposure to various bespoke cost management software systems Control, monitor, analyse and report cost related aspects for designated projects within a Portfolio. Earned value management Cost control and forecasting Project reporting Effective communication within team and with stakeholders. High level of numeracy and excellent analytical skills. Breadth of experience across whole project lifecycle (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation/Commissioning processes).
