Location: Higford School – Shropshire TF11 9ET
Employment type: Part-time, Permanent (term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed).
Salary: Up to £53,200 pro rata DOE. Basic grade SALT offers from £33,000+, Specialist from £39,500+ & Highly specialist from £48,000+.
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to overlap with core school hours.
Responsibilities
* Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils, working collaboratively with the education team.
* Hold a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from a designated clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
* Support the development of an enhanced speech and language therapy offer through training and supervision of apprentices, students and therapy assistants.
* Work within the OFG (Outcomes First Group) Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working to guide practice in an education setting.
* Participate in multidisciplinary team approach to achieve pupil outcomes and independence.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* HCPC registered.
* 1-2 years of experience as a fully registered member of the RCSLT in a similar setting.
* Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma-informed practice.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working in various settings.
* Experience communicating with/working with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge in different areas of SaLT practice.
* Strong relationship-building, analytical and judgmental skills; good communication, time management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice with understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans based on needs.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication.
* Understanding of arousal levels and their relationship to communication.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
