We are working with a dynamic co-educational Alternative Provision in the London Borough of Hillingdon, catering to students aged 11–16 who are unable to access mainstream education due to social, emotional, and behavioural needs. Many pupils have been, or are at risk of being, permanently excluded and require a creative, practical, and supportive approach to learning.
The school is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Art & Design / Technology Teacher to deliver engaging lessons across Art & Design, Design & Technology, and Food Technology at KS3 and KS4. The role focuses on vocational and life skills development through creative, hands-on learning.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver creative, practical lessons that inspire and motivate disengaged learners.
* Teach across Art & Design, DT, and Food Technology, incorporating real-life skills and vocational elements.
* Support students in developing confidence, independence, and employability through project-based learning.
* Manage challenging behaviour effectively and foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
* Work collaboratively with staff to address individual student needs and tailor learning accordingly.
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred – candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.
* Experience teaching KS3 and KS4 students in a mainstream or alternative provision setting.
* A strong understanding of working with students who present with challenging behaviour and/or SEND (diagnosed or undiagnosed).
* A resilient, flexible, and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
* A commitment to helping students develop practical skills that will support them beyond the classroom.
