Be among the first 25 applicants. 37.5 hours per week. Vacancy for a Peer Support Worker within the Home Treatment Team. The role is for people with lived experience of mental health challenges and aims to inspire hope and support recovery and independence.
Livewell Southwest is an independent, award-winning social enterprise delivering integrated health and social care services. This role is within the Home Treatment Team, working across mental health wards and the community to support service users during transitions between services.
Please note: This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. Livewell may close the job advertisement earlier than the deadline. All staff are expected to work across a 7 day service.
Responsibilities
* Work with a number of service users on a 1:1 or group basis.
* Form and maintain supportive relationships to support recovery and independence.
* Act as a suitable role model and accompany service users to appointments with Community Mental Health teams, Third Sector Agencies and Inpatient Wards; this includes exposure work and group sessions.
* Attend meetings and other formal/informal events as directed by management; liaise with other agencies to support care delivery.
* Share ideas about recovery goals using personal experience and coping/self-management techniques.
* Assist service users to create recovery plans and make/record decisions about their treatment.
* Build trusted relationships to help users identify and overcome anxieties; model personal responsibility, self-awareness, self-belief, self-advocacy and hopefulness.
* Monitor mental health and report changes to clinical staff; work with service users and carers toward recovery; encourage social and physical activities as identified in the care plan.
Other key responsibilities
* Adhere to PSW code of conduct and Livewell Southwest policies and procedures.
* Plan own diary and maintain accurate electronic records; ensure confidentiality and up-to-date information.
* Participate in service development, audits, and professional training; complete mandatory training relevant to the role.
* Be aware of and work within personal limits and competencies; be punctual and professional.

Experience
Essential
* Lived experience of using mental health services
* Previous care experience with people who have mental health difficulties
Desirable
* Previous experience in a multidisciplinary team
* Experience supporting individuals to identify and work toward personal goals in health/social care (paid or unpaid)
Skills

* Time management and planning skills
* Ability to complete clinical records
* Ability to take leadership and direction from qualified staff
* Ability to work in a team and provide accurate feedback

* Knowledge of mental health and safeguarding principles

Qualifications
Essential
* Vocational Qualification Level III or equivalent
* NCFE Level 2 understanding and supporting people with mental health needs and Care Certificate within first 6 months (if not already obtained)
Desirable
* QCF Level 3 in health and social care or equivalent
* Other relevant training or development in mental health settings
