Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, experienced and qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational SEND Schools in Houghton-le-Spring on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a leading role in the Learning Support Department and build positive relationships with pupils to have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.

2. The School supports pupils across the Primary School age range (2-11) and there are opportunities to support pupils across all years groups depending on your preference and specialism.

Pay, Hours and Contract:
4. Pay – Between £95-115 per day DOE
5. Hours –
6. Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2025. Temporary Contract.
7. Start Date – ASAP
8. Location – Houghton-le-Spring
About the HLTA Role:
9. The role will involve supporting pupils working at EYFS/KS1 level who have a wide range of SEND and challenging behaviour.
10. The role will also involve some planning and delivery of learning activities to pupils in small groups.
11. The role will involve supporting pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups. The different types of SEND that pupils have may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, SLD, MLD and PMLD.
12. Some pupils may require personal care and some pupils may be none-verbal or pre-verbal.
13. A key part of the role will be to build a rapport and a positive relationships with pupils to help them to engage with their learning and make progress both academically and as young people.
14. A key part of the role will also be to develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of different pupils within the classroom, working closely alongside Class Teachers and colleagues to establish this.
Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:
15. A Supporting Teaching and Learning or HLTA Qualification
16. Experience of working with Children in Schools in the UK
17. Experience within an SEND School Setting (desired)
18. Experience of planning and delivering learning activities to small groups of pupils.
19. An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
20. A genuine passion for supporting pupils with SEND within an SEND School
21. Hold Right to Work in the UK
22. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
23. Provide two professional references that cover the last two years
