We are looking for
Due to continued growth, Gateway Cargo is expanding its UK commercial team. We are seeking a Business Development Manager with the energy, drive, and commercial acumen to win new business and build long-term client relationships.
In this role, you will report directly to the Managing Director and take ownership of driving sales across our ocean and air freight product lines, with a particular focus on developing new accounts while supporting and nurturing existing clients.
What you will be doing
As our Business Development Manager, you will:
* Build and manage a strong customer base, driving revenue growth and securing long-term partnerships.
* Plan and execute sales activities including calls, emails, client visits, and industry networking.
* Identify and develop new accounts, creating tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
* Promote the Gateway Cargo brand with confidence and deliver outstanding customer experiences.
* Self-generate appointments and convert opportunities into revenue.
* Develop a deep understanding of our freight services and operational processes.
* Provide expert advice to clients, handling objections and ensuring regular, proactive follow-ups.
* Take ownership of your pipeline and gross profit growth in line with Gateway's sales strategy.
* Stay up to date with market developments, trends, and competitor activity.
* Represent Gateway Cargo professionally at events, exhibitions, and client meetings.
Our ideal candidate
* Minimum 2 years' experience in Air & Sea Freight sales.
* A commercially focused mindset with the ability to identify and close opportunities.
* Confident communicator with excellent relationship-building skills.
* Highly motivated, proactive, and entrepreneurial in approach.
* Capable of working independently, building a strong pipeline, and delivering results.
* Full, clean UK driving licence (essential).
