Your responsibilities will span various governance facets, including incident management and compliance monitoring, involving thorough investigation and detailed reporting. With a primary focus on enhancing patient and staff safety, the role demands strong communication, leadership and influencing skills to drive positive change. You'll play a crucial part in fostering a supportive environment aligned with the values of the AEMP Governance Team and the broader Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Governance Lead is the identified lead for coordinating and completing local healthcare governance activity, ensuring comprehensive cover and integration of the various governance functions e.g. Quality monitoring, incidents, complaints and risks.

The post holder will provide senior leadership and strategic oversight of governance across the Acute & Emergency Medicine Care Group. Acting as a key interface between corporate governance, operational leads, and clinical teams, the role will ensure robust governance systems are in place and continuously improved in line with national standards and Trust priorities.

The post holder will be accountable for leading the implementation, assurance, and coordination of governance workstreams across the Care Group, as outlined in the STHFT Healthcare Arrangements Policy.

7. Ability to work to tight deadlines

9. Excellent planning and organisational skills Computer literacy and advanced keyboard skills

10. Recognised computer qualification.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria

11. Registered Healthcare Professional e.g. NMC,
12. 1st level degree or evidence of equivalent study
13. Master’s degree, or equivalent experience or working towards
14. Patient, occupational safety or risk management qualification.
15. To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
16. Evidence of relevant professional development

Desirable criteria

17. Patient, occupational safety or risk management qualification.
18. Clinical Audit course/Basic risk management/health and safety qualification

Experience

Essential criteria

19. Significant experience working within an acute hospital
20. Significant healthcare governance and risk management experience.
21. Significant experience of complaints management, meeting with patients and complaints resolution.
22. Experience of effectively chairing meetings and meeting deadlines.
23. Experience of leading on investigations and report writing.
24. Experience of developing patient centered services
25. Proven clinical operational experience with advanced problem solving.
26. Experience of HR management; and leading a team.
