A Snapshot of Your Day
This role is responsible for financial oversight and management of over £1 billion of pension plan assets and liabilities, across Defined Benefit (“DB”) and Defined Contribution (“DC”) plans in over 40 countries in Siemens Energy’s Europe, Africa and Asia region. The responsibilities include financial management associated with plan design, investment, funding, employer covenant and governance activities for pension and post-employment benefit plans.
The role reports to Siemens Energy’s Head of Regional Pension Management and will be based at our corporate functions office in Camberley, UK.
How You'll Make a Difference
1. Oversee the financial management of pension programs and operations across multiple countries; maintain relationships with trustees, consultants, actuaries, investment managers, auditors and external plan providers
2. Manage projects to optimize SE's pension landscape, seeking opportunities from market developments or regulatory changes to efficiently de-risk, manage costs/ liabilities associated with, or improve the market competitiveness of pension plans in the regions
3. In the UK, lead the company’s input into risk transaction projects, managing timelines and budgets, developing company strategy, preparing business cases and aligning with internal stakeholders to obtain approvals to proceed. Lead funding negotiations with the DB pension trustees, manage company input into investment strategy and the sharing of sponsor financial information for covenant assessment
4. Lead initiatives to transform existing processes through the use of technology to improve efficiency and accuracy of various reporting
5. Develop, together with the global pension team (and other internal stakeholders eg tax, accounting and controlling) funding and financing strategies for defined benefit plans in the regions
6. Support SE M&A in transactions and coordinate the integration of acquired plans and trusts
7. Pro-actively drive /disseminate respective knowledge within the SE Finance organization
What You Bring
8. Strong analytical and organisational skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail, good judgment, and ability to work independently within a defined scope of responsibility.
9. / in Finance/ Accounting/ Economics/ Mathematics or similar
10. 5+ years experience of pension management in an international company with international pension plans/trusts, or as a consultant, supporting and advising multi-national clients to do so. Experience in the UK market is essential, and knowledge of other key markets in the region (eg Belgium, the Netherlands, India, France, Spain and the Middle East) is highly desired
11. Relevant finance-related qualification ( CFA, Actuarial, Accountancy)
12. Knowledge and understanding of different types of pension and post-employment benefit arrangements, and different plan financing approaches
13. Pension risk transaction project experience
14. Solid understanding of accounting/pension liability concepts to successfully support the Group’s balance sheet risk management objectives
15. Demonstrated strong project management skills and proven ability to interact with other departments and external parties; strong analytical skills; attention to detail; strong grasp of current technologies and demonstrate the use in the improvement of daily work
16. The ability to communicate with impact to internal and external stakeholders (in particular, the ability to explain complex pension issues clearly to non-specialists.)
17. Negotiation and communication skills in a business environment. Analytical skills, strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities as well as skills in self- and team management
18. Open to occasional international travel
19. Experience in investment management, pensions in M&A and / or proficiency in French or Spanish are preferred
