CNC Composite Machinist
Location: Bristol
Contract: 6-month ongoing contract
Pay
* £23.59 per hour (shift rate)
* Weekday overtime: £27.65 per hour
* Weekend overtime: £36.86 per hour
Training Period:
Successful candidates will likely complete up to two weeks on core day shift, paid at £18.43 per hour, before moving onto the shift pattern.
Shift Pattern
Machinists currently operate a 12-hour day shift pattern (6:00am – 6:00pm), averaging 40.25 hours per week over a two-week cycle.
About the Role
A leading aerospace manufacturing organisation is seeking a number of skilled CNC Machinists to support production at a large composite manufacturing facility in Bristol.
The site manufactures and machines large carbon fibre structures for major commercial and military aerospace programmes. You will operate advanced CNC machinery producing high-precision aerospace components within a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Machine, measure, test and assemble composite and metallic components up to 15 metres in length.
* Operate advanced CNC equipment including:
* CNC routing machines
* 5-axis drilling and gantry machining systems
* Load and set fixtures, tooling and vacuum-jig systems.
* Use probing and tool setting equipment to maintain machining accuracy.
* Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances and aerospace quality standards.
* Ensure full traceability and documentation of manufactured parts.
* Work as part of small production teams supporting continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
* Follow strict health and safety procedures, including COSHH and safe systems of work.
Skills & Experience
Applicants should have:
* CNC machining experience, ideally including 5-axis machining.
* Experience setting fixtures, tooling and CNC machines.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
* Experience working in precision manufacturing environments (aerospace or similar preferred).
Qualifications
Candidates must have one of the following:
* Engineering Apprenticeship (industry related)
* Level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ in Engineering / Machining
A degree may be considered where candidates also have practical machining experience including 5-axis machining
