Remote | £55,000–£65,000 | Permanent We're a pharma-specialist digital agency and we're hiring a Senior Web Engineer to take ownership of the technical quality layer and grow into the Technical Lead role, with a defined salary band and timeline. This role is not about ticket execution. You are the technical authority from week one. The stack: WordPress/ACF React/Next.js, moving toward a headless architecture. The work runs in a regulated environment (ABPI, GDPR, MLR) where technical decisions carry compliance implications. You don't need to arrive as an expert. You need to take it seriously. The team currently consists of eight people, with big ambitions for growth. We are fully remote, async-first, with core hours from 10:00 to 15:00 UK time. What you're accountable for: - Technical quality of every client deliverable: you own the quality gate; nothing ships without passing it - Coding standards and definition of done: you build the document, you enforce the standard, you update it as the practice evolves - Architecture integrity: project-level decisions are made, documented, and defensible - Delivery within scope and budget: you flag scope drift before it becomes a margin problem - Developer capability: when a new engineer joins, you run their technical onboarding - Compliance readiness: code that creates regulatory risk is yours to catch What we're looking for: - WordPress/ACF mastery, deep, not surface - React/Next.js with headless experience (strong advantage) - Performance, accessibility, and code quality as defaults, not afterthoughts - Technical judgment, specifically in a regulated context - Written communication that works in an async environment The career progression is clearly defined: from Senior Web Engineer to Technical Lead, with a salary range of £70,000–£80,000, a specific timeline, and scope details.
