Overview
An exciting opportunity to join the Respiratory Physiology Department at University Hospital of North Midlands. This role supports a 12-month academic training programme to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science delivered by Sheffield Hallam University. The programme integrates academic teaching of clinical and professional modules into an intensive training period enabling the trainee to develop the knowledge and skills to work as a Healthcare Science Practitioner on graduation.
This is a full-time post. The trainee will attend Sheffield Hallam University for nine days across four blocks and will complete a work-based competency portfolio. The training programme is expected to be completed within the contracted period and a commitment to self-directed study is essential.
The trainee will undertake a 12-month academic training programme in Respiratory Physiology hosted by Sheffield Hallam University, in conjunction with developing clinical skills and experiential learning to work autonomously as a Healthcare Scientist.
A Clinical Supervisor will be appointed to oversee the trainee’s work and provide developmental feedback.

Responsibilities
* Participate in a 12-month academic training programme in Respiratory Physiology hosted by Sheffield Hallam University.
* Attend university sessions as required (nine days across four blocks) and complete a work-based competency portfolio.
* Develop clinical skills and experiential learning to work autonomously as a Healthcare Scientist.
* Receive supervision and feedback from a Clinical Supervisor and act on developmental guidance.
* Engage with programme learning outcomes as defined in the learning plan.

* Graduate diploma pathway through a partnership with Sheffield Hallam University (12-month programme).
* Commitment to a full-time training role and self-directed study.
* Willingness to participate in a structured training programme spanning academic and clinical components.
* UKVI sponsorship note: UHNM cannot sponsor this role. Graduates on a graduate visa may apply, but UHNM cannot offer sponsorship at the end of the visa, and there must be at least six months remaining before expiry at the start of employment for training and operational reasons.
