The role
As a Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be a skilled technician performing detailed aircraft or component maintenance, working independently to approved technical data and instructions in line with the organisation’s Maintenance Organisation Exposition (MOE).
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and system tests on aircraft and components
2. Analyse performance and faults, applying technical expertise to resolve issues and improve procedures
3. Maintain task competencies and demonstrate a proactive, adaptable approach to responsibilities
4. Support compliance activities within the maintenance facility, including tooling oversight and procedural checks.
This role is full time working 37.5 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Technician:
5. Completed Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally with City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering
6. Applicants with Trade Principles and Aircraft Platform training will be considered, subject to completing the B3(T) Pathway.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Technician:
7. Completed apprenticeship or qualifications in Aeronautical Engineering or military equivalent
8. Trained in Airframe and Propulsion trades
9. Proficient in computer systems and digital tools.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
