We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Electrification & Power (E&P) team. This is an exciting opportunity for an electrical design professional with a passion for innovation, a strong technical foundation and a proven record of supporting complex rail infrastructure projects.
You will support the technical and commercial delivery of key rail projects, with a particular focus on low voltage (LV) systems, including Station M&E and Lineside E&P design.
The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services across a wide range of rail infrastructure projects. Our work spans the full lifecycle from feasibility studies and outline design through to detailed design and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of electrical design packages across rail infrastructure projects
* Prepare key elements of design deliverables including technical reports, electrical calculations, lighting calculations and CAD drawings in industry standard software
* Undertake desktop studies, record searches and site surveys to assess available records and existing site conditions prior to design development
* Coordinate with colleagues in other rail disciplines to ensure design proposals are consistent and coherent across all design submissions
* Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations, including NR/RSSB standards and guidance, British Standards, CDM/CSM, and Health & Safety legislation
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in supporting the delivery of E&P design for the UK rail sector
* Good working knowledge of low voltage systems including but not limited to Platform Lighting, LV Power Distribution, Points Heating, and Signalling Power
* Experience working to Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Group Standards, British Standards and Eurocodes
* Familiarity with the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
* Awareness of CDM Regulations, design safety principles and risk assessment
* Good communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
* A collaborative and proactive mindset with the ability to identify and present potential efficiencies and other improvements to the wider team
Qualifications
* Proven track record in railway Electrification & Power design and delivery
* Experienced in Station M&E and/or Lineside E&P
* Proficient in use of MicroStation, Trimble Pro Design/Electrical OM and DiaLux Evo
* Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a wider delivery team
* BSc, BEng, or MEng in Electrical Engineering
* Chartered Engineer (or working towards) with a recognised institution (e.g. IET)
* Strong Electrical Engineering background with Rail industry experience
