Your role is all about ensuring our learners succeed. Through both classroom based learning and more tailored 1-2-1 support – you will be driven by seeing the difference we can make in peoples’ lives when they succeed.

As a Skills Tutor, a typical day might include:

1. Delivering an effective and motivating curriculum across sites as required
2. Ensuring our curriculum intent is embedded in all teaching, and sequencing is achieved through all delivery
3. Supporting the creation of schemes of work, lesson plans and appropriate teaching resources for own teaching sessions
4. Supporting learners on a day-to-day basis to address obstacles, raise confidence and self-esteem, develop social and work skills and achieve goals
5. Developing and supporting links and engagement activities with partner organisations and employers in order to develop new opportunities for learners (eg. activities to promote personal and social skills, work placements, development of tutorial sessions and CPD activities)
6. Helping learners to identify and record progression opportunities - further learning, apprenticeships or employment
7. To help develop techniques to monitor progress and evaluate the programmes, including effective ways of encouraging learner feedback
8. Lead on the involvement of young people in our programme development through learner voice activities
9. Being responsible for Quality Assurance of your teaching to ensure our learners receive the best service possible.
10. Planning, preparing, delivering and evaluating all the courses you deliver across the provision.
11. Lead on course outline information and schemes of work for courses you deliver, ensuring all is in place at all times.

What we need to see in your application (dont worry if you dont tick every box):

12. Relevant professional/Subject qualifications at least to level 3 or an in-depth knowledge and substantial experience in the subject area.
13. Teaching qualification appropriate for working in Post 16 Sector, and/or willingness to undergo further training.
14. L3 Education and Training or willingness to undertake this
15. Awareness of the needs of underachieving and disengaged young people
16. Ability to deal with behaviours that challenge at times
17. Experience of working positively with young people
18. Good time management and organisational skills
19. Good standard of English, maths and ICT
20. Experience of delivering within a community setting to all ages

22. Experience of working to achieve targets in a timely manner
23. Ability to work as a team, under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
