The role
As a Base Shift Mechanical Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Assisting the Shiplift manager in maximising utilisation of personnel and resource of the section.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Assist the Shiplift Mechanical Manager in maximising the utilisation and the efficiency of all the section’s resource.
2. Ensure that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the Company’s cost, time and quality requirements. (AC17)
3. The implementation of the Company Safety, Quality and Environmental policies in the Utilities area of the business ensuring that assessments of risks are carried out which lead to safe working attitudes and practices. (AC17)
4. Forward plan the undertaking of maintenance and project work, liaising with other departments and alongside vessels as required to ensure KPI targets are achieved with the minimum number of concessions
5. Scope and make safe defects as they occur and are reported in accordance with the MSDF contract. As well as providing an initial assessment of the defect and reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager or Base Shift Manager with repair recommendations and were required/possible provide an alternative.
This role is full time and based onsite at Faslane.

7. Interpret Engineer Drawings
8. Maintenance Documentation
9. Authorised Persons policies and procedures
10. Facility Safety Cases
11. Safe Systems of Work
12. Risk Assessments.
Qualifications for the Base Shift Mechanical Specialist:
13. HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
14. Proof of completion of Mechanical Apprenticeship.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
