Overview

Hadlow Rural Community School (HRCS) invites applications for a Teacher with Potential Leadership Responsibilities for Film / Drama at KS4. The role is rooted in English teaching with opportunities to lead in Film/Drama at KS4 for selected candidates. Start: January 2026. Location: Kent. Salary: UNQ/NQT/MPS with TLR2/3 negotiable + up to £5,000. HRCS combines a traditionally academic curriculum with a strong Land-based specialism and emphasizes high standards, wellbeing, and career progression.


Responsibilities

* Teach allocated pupils by planning and adapting teaching to achieve learning objectives.
* Develop and implement progression of learning by identifying clear objectives, planning, and assessing progress.
* Set challenging tasks, maintain high expectations, and build on prior attainment.
* Identify and plan for SEN and very able pupils; provide structure for lessons with appropriate pace and challenge.
* Use assessment effectively to cover programmes of study and monitor pupil progress.
* Maintain discipline in line with school procedures and promote good behaviour and homework standards.
* Ensure pupils acquire and consolidate subject knowledge and skills appropriate to KS4.
* Evaluate and improve own teaching through reflection and feedback.
* Provide effective deployment of classroom support where available.
* Deliver high-quality drama and/or film lessons at KS4 under leadership of the English Head of Department when applicable.
* Design and develop film and/or drama curriculums at KS4; plan, deliver, assess, and track pupil progress.
* Monitor, assess, record, and report pupil progress; prepare informative reports for parents.
* Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning; support school-wide development priorities.
* Carry out pastoral duties as a form tutor and contribute to the Personal Development curriculum.
* Engage in professional development and contribute to CPD initiatives; potentially lead CPD for others.


Qualifications and Requirements

* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Good honours degree (2:1 or better).
* Evidence of relevant CPD and ongoing professional development.
* Experience of teaching in secondary schools and a track record of good teaching and positive pupil outcomes.
* Ability to lead CPD for others and demonstrate leadership potential, including ability to teach film and/or drama at KS4.
* Thorough knowledge of the subject curriculum and assessment levels; ability to work as part of a team.
* Understanding of equal opportunities, safeguarding, and the importance of high standards of behaviour.
* Strong organisational skills, flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment with high expectations of students.
