RVT Group is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who is strategic and results-oriented to join our executive team. In this role, you will oversee the company's operational functions, ensuring that we achieve our business goals and advance our growth strategy. This position demands a proven leader with strong business insights and the capacity to cultivate a culture of operational excellence. The COO will play a vital role as a key member of the emerging C-suite, collaborating closely with the CEO, the Board, and senior leaders to define and execute the company's long-term strategy.
Your main responsibilities will include enhancing operational systems, processes, and policies; managing daily operations; and working closely with fellow executives to shape the organisation's vision and direction. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the hiring/rental equipment sector, particularly in construction, civil, and defence industries.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and execute innovative operational strategies that align with the company's vision and goals.
* Oversee the daily operational activities of the company.
* Review and assess operational performance metrics, implementing necessary changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
* Guide and mentor departmental managers and teams to enhance productivity and uphold quality standards.
* Work with the CEO and other executives to establish and convey the organisational vision, strategy, and direction.
* Manage resource allocation and usage to maximise return on investment (ROI) and operational productivity.
* Improve organisational processes and implement best practices throughout all operational areas.
* Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards and apply these standards across the organisation.
Essential Experience
* Significant experience leading multi‑site warehouse and logistics operations in multiple organisations.
* Experience running operations of £75m+ Revenue scale.
* Strong background in turnkey project delivery and time‑critical service environments.
* Experienced at managing H&S
* Experience working with subcontractors and on‑site delivery teams.
* Systems and data‑led operator with a track record of driving efficiency through insight.
* Experience implementing or upgrading ERP systems.
Desirable Experience
* Experience in the hire industry would be extremely beneficial
* Exposure to hire‑based industries such as construction, oil & gas, heavy industry, or food manufacturing.
* Experience managing shutdown periods or similar high‑pressure operational cycles.
* Global operational exposure, particularly US operations.
