Role Summary
Millwall Football Club is seeking dedicated, knowledgeable, and self-motivated Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists, or Sports Rehabilitators to join the Academy Sports Science & Medicine department. The Academy Therapist plays a vital role in the club's long-term vision.
The successful candidate will work within a Category 2 Academy, fulfilling requirements according to the EPPP system. They will provide physiotherapy and rehabilitation services for all academy players from U9 to U15 age groups, with occasional involvement with full-time scholars.
The role requires flexible working hours, including four midweek evening sessions and weekend match coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals interested in football. Candidates should stay current with relevant literature, understand scope of practice, and seek to develop practical skills through internal CPD opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide emergency first aid during training sessions and matchdays.
2. Conduct clinical assessments of injured youth players (U9-U16) prior to games.
3. Maintain detailed injury and treatment records, uploaded to the Football Intelligence Platform.
4. Communicate regularly with coaches, sports scientists, and parents regarding player injuries and availability.
5. Coordinate with full-time academy medical staff to monitor rehabilitation progress.
6. Participate in in-house CPD sessions.
7. Promote safeguarding and welfare of children within the academy.
Person Specification
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Chartered Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or Sports Rehabilitator qualification.
* Basic Life Support or equivalent first aid certification.
* Valid driving license.
* IT literacy skills.
Desirable Requirements
* Valid Safeguarding Certification.
* Experience working in professional sport with adolescents.
* Understanding of EPPP requirements.
* FA ATMMiF (Level 5), FA ITMMiF (Level 4), or equivalent first aid qualification.

* Flexible working hours and commitment to the timetable.
* Willingness to cover away fixtures with long travel.
* Experience in a sporting environment, preferably football.
* Strong communication skills.

Additional Details
Location: MFC Academy, Kidbrooke Lane, Eltham, London, SE9 6TE
Hours: No fixed hours. Shifts include Monday-Thursday evenings (16:30-19:00) and weekend matchdays. Applicants must be willing to work at least 2 Sundays per month.
