We are recruiting a Technical Lead to join our dedicated IT team in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. As a Technical Lead, you will join us permanently, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary plus benefits.

The Company
Would you like to work for one of the UK's leading hand, power tool and equipment distributors? With over 43 years of experience in the industry, Sealey is a preferred choice for professionals within the automotive, construction, agricultural, motorcycle, industrial and engineering market sectors.

Your responsibilities as a DevOps Engineer will include, but may not be limited to:
Take ownership of the architecture and integrity of our digital platforms, bridging the gap between application development and operational stability.
Lead the architecture and optimisation of GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines to enable structured, reliable, and auditable deployments.
Own the integrity of complex Middleware integrations. You will be responsible for ensuring seamless data flow between the eCommerce front-end and back-end systems, and for investigating API logic and data discrepancies at the code level.
Act as the primary technical authority to external development vendors and integration partners. You will audit their code commits and enforce strict internal standards to ensure their work aligns with our security and business objectives.
Investigate and resolve complex development and platform issues with minimal supervision, distinguishing between server faults and application logic errors.
Produce and maintain clear documentation of systems, configurations, and operational processes to ensure traceability and support continuity.
Apply formal change control processes to all system changes, including version control, peer reviews, and release approvals.
Implement and maintain deep monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to ensure system availability and performance.
What we're looking for in our Technical Lead:
Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Senior Engineering or DevOps role, with proven ownership of production e-commerce environments.
Skilled in Scripting and Automation to manage cloud & self-hosted environments.
Experienced in Application Logic to debug Middleware and API interactions.
Proficient in the GitHub ecosystem for version control, release management, and automation.
Understanding of e-commerce transactional front-end systems, covering both B2B & D2C markets.
Agile communicator: able to translate business area needs into structured technical plans and articulate technical concepts in non‑technical language to varied stakeholders and vendors.
Comfortable advising third-party vendors and external partners to match internal standards, ensuring consistent and effective delivery.
Used to working alongside systems (ERP) teams to ensure seamless integrations and support for wider platform architecture.
Benefits our Technical Lead will receive:
Competitive salary, plus bonus
22 days holiday rising to 25 days (after qualifying period) plus Public Holidays
Pension scheme
Life assurance scheme
Health cash plan
Staff discount on Sealey and Dellonda products
