Customer Delivery Driver - Bedford Riverfield Dr Superstore. Join to apply for the role at Tesco. Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 an hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It’s our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week; if you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too and would love to hear from you.
As the face of Tesco out on the road, you will deliver to customers’ homes across a wide area. This role is hands-on, physical and varied; you’ll often feel like your own boss, delivering to customers, with a team of Managers and colleagues available for support when needed. Availability
The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work (availability windows). We will schedule your contracted hours within these times and provide 3 weeks’ notice of exact shifts. We are happy to consider close matches to advertised times and encourage you to apply even if your availability isn’t an exact match.
Responsibilities
* Delivering your part of the customer shopping trip by ensuring the van and trays are clean and tidy, and the back yard is kept clean.
* Washing trays as part of the tray wash process and loading the van, checking van roadworthiness.
* Communicating with customers about order changes, substitutions, and refunds where applicable.
* Handling products with care and delivering within the customer’s chosen time slot.
* Calling the customer before arrival if early and contacting the store if running late by 30 minutes or more.
You will need
* Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and support excellent customer service.
* Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues, taking time to understand customer needs and express gratitude.
* Respond quickly to changing customer needs and embrace store changes.
* Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations and balance work and life.
* Share ideas with Management on how to improve the store for customers.
* A valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
