Overview
An opportunity has arisen with the Clinical Investigations Unit (CIU) for a Healthcare Scientist Support Worker with Cardio/Respiratory Physiology. CIU works across three hospital sites: Furness General Hospital (FGH), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH), and Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI). The post is expected to be centred on the FGH site, with duties carried out across locations as required.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to the clinical physiology team in areas such as Electrocardiograms (ECG), ambulatory ECGs and Blood Pressure monitoring, prolonged ECG monitoring (AliveCor and dignostic devices), spirometry, FeNO testing, and sleep studies.
* Perform 12-lead ECGs in a variety of clinical settings and operate ambulatory monitors and related equipment (diagnostic, AliveCor, BP, spirometry, FeNO, and sleep clinics).
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, clinicians, patients, and their relatives to deliver a high-quality service.
* Assist in the professional and operational delivery of CIU services, including shared allocation of work and training of other staff.
About the sites
CIU operates from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, with additional community premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. FGH and RLI provide a wide range of General Hospital services with Emergency Departments and specialist units; WGH provides General Hospital services plus an Urgent Treatment Centre; planned care and diagnostics are delivered across all sites and community facilities within the Morecambe Bay area.
