Why this role?
We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Head of Fire Engineering to spearhead and grow our fire engineering capability within a dynamic, multi-disciplinary consultancy. This is a strategic management opportunity to shape the future of fire engineering in the business, driving innovation, technical excellence and client engagement from the ground up.
Client care, industry management, and technical excellence are central to this role. You will be responsible for the shaping of fire engineering offering, directing and developing a high-performing team, and delivering innovative, compliance solutions across a diverse range of sectors.
About You
As the Head of Fire Engineering, you will oversee the delivery of complex fire engineering projects across a range of sectors including detailed fire design and evaluation, fire risk assessments, smoke control strategies and advanced fire modelling. Your expertise will be instrumental in setting technical direction, mentoring a growing team and establishing best practices across the discipline.
This is a pivotal role for someone with a strong track record of project delivery, business development, and client relationship management.
Key Purpose
* Develop and implement fire strategies and technical reviews for new and existing projects.
* Champion fire engineering assessments to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
* Establish an internal fire engineering function
* Provide industry-recognised expertise to multi-disciplinary teams across UK offices
What you will do
* Author and review fire safety strategies, ensuing a balanced approach between passive and involved fire protection to achieve compliance and safety
* Ensure fire designs meet UK Building regulations (Part B), BS 9999, and other relevant fire codes, while engaging with regulatory authorities to secure approvals
* Conduct technical evaluations of fire detection, alarm, suppression, and smoke control systems, including CFD modelling and fire risk assessments
* Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to integrate fire safety into design and construction processes.
* Spearhead and mentor fire engineering team members, building a high-performing internal function and supporting professional development
* Oversee fire engineering budgets, monitor fees, and conduct cost analyses to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
