About the role
This role requires you to provide high quality support for the curriculum team to provide a high-quality experience for students. It is a professional, flexible, pro-active customer service role requiring adaptability and excellent interpersonal skills. A proactive approach, problem solving, and the ability to suggest new approaches and systems are important.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparing all necessary materials/equipment to support the day-to-day running of the curriculum area.
* Liaising with academic and support staff to ensure a good student experience.
* Working with estates and the COPC Support Hub to report issues or faults.
* Ensuring resources are used, re-used and recycled to minimise cost and create a sustainable environment.
* Ensuring all equipment has the required health & safety checks and records are kept.
* Complying with Health and Safety regulations and assisting with the College's Health and Safety Policy.
* Supporting the preparation and smooth running of End Point Assessments.
* Disposing of surplus equipment/materials in compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
* Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy curriculum area and storing equipment to meet the needs of the curriculum area.
* Following procedures to order tools/materials/resources to ensure smooth operation.
* Liaising with suppliers to achieve best value for money; checking delivery notes/inventories and notifying the Curriculum Administrator for timely invoice payment.
* Supporting various college events including Open Evenings and Awards Ceremonies.
* Supporting the Curriculum and Management team with other duties as they arise.
* Being familiar with the work of other Technicians to ensure effective cover for sickness or holidays.
To be successful in this role
* Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or industry
* Experience of working in post-16 education
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
* Ability to work productively under the direction of a line manager
* Ability to support science students with their learning
* Computer literate
* Candidates must be willing to undertake training for subject-specific areas
