Overview
Walsall Council is looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to join the Street Scene team. This important leadership role is responsible for frontline environmental services that make a visible difference across the borough. You will lead service delivery across key operational areas, including waste management, fleet, grounds maintenance and street cleansing, helping to ensure services are safe, efficient, reliable and customer‑focused.
This is a varied and demanding role in a fast‑paced operational setting. You will oversee day‑to‑day operations, make sure resources are deployed effectively, and maintain high standards across the service. You will also play a key role in improving performance, driving continuous improvement and ensuring services deliver real value for residents and communities.

Responsibilities
As Senior Operations Manager, you will lead the day‑to‑day delivery of environmental services across Street Scene, managing frontline teams and ensuring work is planned and delivered effectively.
You will oversee the use and maintenance of fleet, plant, equipment and PPE, coordinate daily schedules and collection routes, and respond to service issues, enquiries and complaints in a timely and professional way.
You will also work closely with residents, elected members, internal teams and other stakeholders, while promoting safe working practices and using service data and performance information to maintain standards and drive improvement.

Qualifications
* NVQ Level 5 or equivalent practical experience in an environmental discipline.
* IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Flexibility to work in line with service needs, including weekends, bank holidays and Christmas collection arrangements.
