About the Company:
One of my engineering clients in Kent is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to lead their financial operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team on a part-time basis, providing critical oversight and guidance to support ongoing growth and stability.
Role Overview:
The Head of Finance will be responsible for managing the company's financial health, ensuring robust accounting practices, and driving business insights to support strategic decision-making. The successful candidate will have a strong background in business and accounting, comfortable working within an ERP accounting platform environment (specific ERP experience is not required). This role offers a flexible 3-day workweek with occasional visits to the office.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
* Oversee the accounting function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely closure of financial periods.
* Manage and mentor a team of 2 accountants, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
* Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business objectives.
* Analyse financial data to provide actionable insights and support business decision-making.
* Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk to safeguard company assets.
* Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards.
* Support the integration and utilization of the ERP accounting platform to optimize financial processes.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a senior finance or accounting role with a strong business acumen.
* Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
* Experience working within ERP accounting systems (specific platform knowledge not essential).
* Experience managing a small finance team (preferably 2 or more accountants).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
* Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
* Ability to commit to a part-time schedule (3 days per week) with flexibility for occasional office visits.
