Purpose of Role
We have an excellent opportunity for an individual to join our defence contract as a AGL Assistant also known as an Airfield Assistant. This is an opportunity to learn and qualify to become a AGL Electrician and grow your career.
Job Description
As an Airfield Assistant, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of an airfield. Your primary responsibilities include assisting in the maintenance and operation of essential airfield equipment and systems. This role demands a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, adaptability, and effective teamwork.
Responsibilities
•Collaborate with the Airfield Technician to assist with routine PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator) maintenance, contributing to the safe landing and takeoff of aircraft.
•Operate a communication radio supplied by air traffic control, maintaining clear and effective communication for safe airfield operations.
•Drive the technician's van to transport equipment and personnel efficiently across the airfield.
•Assist the Airfield Technician in diagnosing and troubleshooting technical faults, contributing to the timely resolution of issues.
•Work alongside the Airfield Technician for tasks that require two-person coordination and manual handling, ensuring safety and efficiency.
•Perform repairs and replacement of taxiway lamps and bulbs, enhancing airfield visibility and safety.
•Act as the designated safety companion for the Airfield Technician during airfield maintenance tasks, prioritizing safety protocols.
•Assist in carrying out routine inspections to identify and address potential maintenance needs promptly.
•Conduct emergency lighting tests to verify functionality and readiness for critical situations.
•Be willing to work overtime as required and as reasonably requested to support airfield maintenance operations.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
•Knowledge of PPM tasks
•Good written and verbal communication skills
