Overview
The Commercial Industries and Access School at Kingston College is seeking a Sessional Lecturer to teach on a variety of courses and levels across the curriculum area, including but not limited to: BTEC, NCFE, Levels 1, 2, 3. This may include Travel & Tourism units, hospitality units and aviation/cabin crew units. The courses are predominantly coursework based, and the post involves designing engaging coursework assignments that inspire learners. The directed pathways vocational course offers students opportunities to explore pathways of their interest: Health and Social Care, Sport, Hair, Beauty, Barbering and Travel and Tourism. The role will also involve internal verification activities and organising and taking part in external verification.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and design engaging coursework-based assessments for BTEC, NCFE and related qualifications across levels 1–3.
* Teach across Travel & Tourism, hospitality, aviation/cabin crew units and other curriculum areas as required.
* Contribute to internal verification activities and participate in external verification processes.
* Support, motivate and monitor learner progress with effective planning, preparation and administration, ensuring high standards of academic quality.
* Engage with industry links, external agencies and validating bodies to maintain relevant, industry-aligned provision.
Qualifications
* Hold a degree or professional qualification in an appropriate subject.
* Hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.
* Demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and passion for the subject and education, with excellent teaching skills and substantial relevant teaching experience on BTEC and/or NCFE programmes.
* Experience with coursework-based delivery, with awareness of academic quality standards.
Requirements and Skills
* Strong planning, preparation, organisational and administrative skills with good attention to detail.
* Ability to support, motivate and empathise with learners and monitor progress.
* Links to the industry and an understanding of external validating bodies.
