An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Planning Engineer to join a leading civil engineering team focused on delivering key energy infrastructure projects across Scotland. These major developments are part of the ASTI onshore programme, supporting the transition to renewable energy.
The projects are located near Inverness. Initially, you will be based in regional offices located in the outskirts of Glasgow before transitioning to site-based roles in 2027. The scope includes the construction of new substations and HVDC converter stations to support Scotland's journey to net zero.
What's required?
As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will report to the Framework Planning Lead and be responsible for:
Developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6 from first principles, including resource loading
Integrating and managing subcontractor and supplier programmes
Interpreting information from tender and project documentation
Understanding civil construction techniques and developing them into actionable programmes
Collaborating with estimators and commercial teams on programme elements
Producing clear narratives, phasing plans, and supporting documentation for tenders and live projects
Owning the programme to drive successful delivery
Using planning tools to clearly communicate plans to stakeholders
Supporting operational teams with programme, risk, and commercial information
Leading collaborative planning workshops with stakeholders and delivery partners
Monitoring and reporting on project progress in line with contractual and internal requirements
Managing changes and supporting commercial teams in programme analysis
Evaluating subcontractor and supply chain schedules
Complying with internal processes and systems
Staying informed on latest construction methods
We're looking for someone with...
Experience in planning under the NEC form of contract is preferred
Minimum of 10 years' experience in planning roles for a tier 1 civil engineering contractor
HND or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering/Construction preferred
Proficiency with Primavera P6 is essential
Proficiency with Excel and Power BI for reporting is advantageous
Must be skilled with tender planning
Commercially and contractually aware, with proven change management expertise
