We are a school with high expectations of pupil's achievement and behaviour, ensuring every child achieves their full potential and are looking to appoint a professional, dedicated and enthusiastic Welfare Officer and OPaL Play Coordinator to join our school.
In this important role, you will be working with children across our school to support them in being ready to learn by providing a safe, trusted and familiar person in a nurturing environment supporting their medical needs and daily first aid issues.
At lunchtime, as part of our OPaL team, coordinate the external lunchtime areas, supporting children to acknowledge potential hazards in play. Develop independence and resilience while encouraging risk assessment processes to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
We are looking for an experienced candidate, who has a good understanding of younger children including children with social, emotional and mental health needs, which will allow you to provide a quality and trusted structured support network to pupils.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Enjoy working with children and be completely motivated by the desire to support them in reaching their full potential
Have previous experience of working with primary school aged children
Can engage effectively and confidentially with pupils, staff, parents and all stakeholders
Be able to think creatively when finding solutions and problem solving
An ability to adapt quickly to different situations
Be confident with groups of children
Act as a mentor, demonstrating the positive behaviour, language and skills used during the school day.
To have worked closely with pupils, giving you an understanding of
To have an understanding of general medical conditions eg Asthma (training will be provided)
This post will be contracted as a FIXED TERM post for one year. The role is for 21.25 hours per week 10:15-14:30.
