An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Nursing Development Team (NDT) for the post of Development Nurse (Student Experience - NQN Recruitment Manager). This is a great opportunity for a registered nurse who has an interest and experience in management, teaching and education of nursing students and who would like to enhance and develop their career.
The Development Nurse (Student Experience - NQN Recruitment Manager) is responsible for ensuring that Pre-registration Nursing and Apprentice Nursing Associate students experience high quality learning opportunities when they complete their clinical placements within the Trust. In collaboration with the Senior Development Nurse, Deputy Development Nurse, Placement Coordinator and wider NDT colleagues, the post holder will be responsible for managing Student Experience and NQN Recruitment portfolios and providing hands on support to all learners, HEIs, supervisors, assessors and other internal and external stakeholders.
The Development Nurse (Student Experience - NQN Recruitment Manager) role is integral in ensuring that learners experience a high level of satisfaction within clinical placements across the Trust, as indicated by their desire to remain with the Trust as their employer upon qualifying. The post holder will work closely with the Associate Director of Nursing and Education, Senior Development Nurses and other stakeholders across the nursing clinical areas and in close partnership with HEIs.
Main Duties of the Job
* Responsible for the day-to-day management, governance and performance standards of the Student Experience (SE) and Newly Qualified Nurses recruitment programmes.
* Provide effective leadership and management to the Student Experience and NQN Recruitment team members.
* Plan, support and maintain high quality clinical placements for learners completing Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved programmes within the Trust.
* Promote safe and effective learning environments to enable learner success.
* Facilitate, manage and lead the NQN Recruitment process of learners in their final stages into nursing and nursing associate posts.
* Ensure that the Trust meets NHS England Education Funding Agreement standards and requirements, including the NHS Education Quality Framework (EQF) and the Safe Learning Environment Charter (SLEC).

Job Responsibilities
To ensure high quality provision of practice learning opportunities for learners across the Trust who are undertaking programmes leading to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). This includes the recruitment and support of seconded staff and apprenticeships.
To work collaboratively with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and other practitioners across the sector, to monitor practice placements and ensure that they are fully compliant with audit requirements.
In partnership with key stakeholders and Placement Coordinator, to develop and maintain clinical practice placement opportunities for learners undertaking Pre-registration Nursing and Nursing Associate courses within the Trust and to ensure that clinical placement areas meet the requirements outlined within the Standards for Pre-registration Nursing Education (NMC, 2010) and NHSE Education Funding Agreement.
In partnership with key stakeholders, to ensure that all learners are provided with practice learning opportunities that enable them to meet the NMC standards of proficiency and programme outcomes, as indicated within Standards for Pre-registration Nursing Programmes (NMC, 2018/2023).
Develop systems for supporting and disseminating information to Practice Supervisors, Practice Assessors and clinical managers across the Trust.
In collaboration with other Student Experience team members, to lead and support the implementation of the NMCs Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) (NMC, 2019/2023).
To work with placement areas and HEIs to ensure that all annual clinical placements audits are up to date and to establish and maintain systems for monitoring, reviewing and reporting on the quality of the practice learning environments.
To provide support and guidance for Practice and Academic Assessors, Practice Supervisors and staff who support and assess students and learners in clinical practice.
To promote and manage the recruitment of final placement students into nursing posts across the Trust and to lead on their development programmes.
To work collaboratively with and support the wider Student Experience colleagues and other members of the Nursing Development Team (NDT).
Maintain own clinical competence and fitness for practice by working a minimum of two days per month within clinical teams across the Trust.
Act as a credible role model.
Person Specification
Training & Qualifications (Essential)
* NMC Registered Nurse or minimum of First Degree, and post registration CPD courses to Masters' Degree level or equivalent and relevant to the post in education and management/leadership.
Training & Qualifications (Desirable)
* Relevant Master's Degree, working towards or equivalent.
* Project management qualification or willingness to undertake further training in project management (PRINCE2).
Experience (Essential)
* Evidence of supporting, supervising and assessing learners in clinical practice (i.e. as a Practice Assessor, Supervisor, Mentor etc.).
* Evidence of working with mentors / supervisors / assessors and placement leads to develop an effective learning environment and improved practice experience.
* Chairing/facilitating meetings and group forums.
* Experience of managing risks and reporting.
Experience (Desirable)
* Evidence of development of pre-registration learning opportunities.
* Demonstrable experience of coordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
* Working with people at all levels of the organisation.
Knowledge & Skills (Essential)
* Able to manage performance, address conflict and resolve difficult situations effectively.
* Ability to prepare, produce and present concise yet insightful communications and reports for dissemination to senior stakeholders and a broad range of stakeholders as required.
