As a volunteer with the MSOIC Team, you’ll provide vital investigative and operational support to a small, specialised unit comprising one sergeant and two constables. Based in Woking but operating across the entire Surrey Force area, your contributions will help enhance the team’s capacity to deliver timely and effective services to the public.

You’ll work collaboratively with internal departments and external partner agencies, and may also have the opportunity to support live operations.

You will support investigations by undertaking the following activities:

* Conducting enquiries and gathering evidence
* Recovering and storing evidence appropriately for continuity and prosecution purposes
* Responding to queries relating to ongoing investigations

To be eligible to apply for this position, you must have previous investigative experience and hold an accreditation in investigation at PIP1 level as a minimum. Ideally you will also understand disclosure procedures and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) 1996.

Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are essential for this role, as you will engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, as well as liaise with a range of partner agencies. The ability to communicate clearly and sensitively will be key to supporting victims, witnesses, and colleagues effectively.

Additional experience that would be beneficial includes familiarity with police systems along with strong administrative capabilities and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Organisational skills will be important for planning and supporting key tasks, while great interpersonal skills will enable successful teamwork.
