We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Lead Skin Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide maternity cover within our highly skilled and well-established Skin Cancer CNS team. This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and motivated nurse to lead a dynamic service while contributing directly to high-quality patient care.
In this role, you'll provide clinical expertise and managerial leadership to three band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialists. The CNS team works autonomously across a range of nurse-led clinics, delivering specialist assessment, treatment support and patient education throughout the pathway. The CNS team delivers a specialist, leading mole-mapping service within Imperial, utilising the most up-to-date imaging technology to support the early recognition and detection of skin cancers in our patients. You will work across all sites on designated days, collaborating closely with the MDT.
The successful candidate will have substantial experience in skin cancer and excellent understanding of systemic anti-cancer treatments. We are looking for a kind, dedicated and collaborative professional with exceptional communication skills and a commitment to advancing service quality.

Main duties of the job
1. The Lead/Team Lead CNS will provide clinical leadership, service management and line management to the CNS team/ service.
2. The Lead/ Team Lead CNS will deliver expert clinical care at an enhanced level and use their experience to support the band 6 and 7 CNSs within their practice and role.
3. A clinical nurse specialist (CNS) is a registered nurse with relevant experience and post-registration education for working at an enhanced level within a specific area of practice. They assess, manage, deliver care, advise on, and support patients.
4. CNSs have the autonomy to act and accept responsibility and accountability for their actions, acting as a skilled advisor for patients, or a resource for others.
5. CNSs perform specialist holistic assessment and treatment using a personalised approach. This is characterised by a level of decision making based on detailed knowledge and understanding of their area of practice.
6. As part of the multidisciplinary team CNSs can work in or across many settings, depending on their area of expertise and scope of practice.
