Job responsibilities Main Purpose of Job: To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the Practice, delivering an excellent standard of care. The post holder will adhere to the GMC standards of good practice, contributing to the effective management of the service, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the NMG team. You will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients. Location: Newgate Medical Group, The Health Centre, Newgate Street, Worksop, Notts S80 1HP Salary: Highly competitive Salary plus expenses, 6 weeks holiday & study days (pro rata for part time) Main tasks of job: Clinical responsibilities: In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion. Providing highly effective medical care to patients. To provide on-call services and cover extended hours as required within the Practice timetable. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the Practice. Working as a team member with all relevant providers of primary and community care services. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols. Effective management of long-term conditions. Providing counselling and health education. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Providing accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance. Collecting data for audit purposes. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions adhering to local and national guidelines. Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Other responsibilities within the Practice: Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health, and safety. A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice. Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation. Contributing to the development of computer-based patient records. Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data. Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate. Develop and maintain clinical skills and abilities through CPD and participate in yearly appraisal to identify further education, training, and development needs. Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement. Attendance at internal clinical meetings and external meetings (as Practice representative) as required by the management team. Supervise and participate in the training of the nursing staff and other members of the clinical team within the Practice. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA). Participate in Practice audits as requested by the audit lead.
