Overview

One of our core clients, an expert in Hydraulic Systems and Solutions, is looking for a Hydraulic Engineer to join their team in Gateshead. The Hydraulic Engineer will lead a job or project from enquiry to completion and supervise technicians to ensure quality, lead time and financial objectives are met or exceeded. Engineering projects may include hydraulic power units, control consoles, bespoke hydraulic systems, and manifolds. The Hydraulic Engineer will be responsible for providing technical information to the customer, suppliers, subcontractors, and on-site/workshop hydraulic technicians. They must ensure a clear system functional understanding from all parties involved in the project, approve subcontractors design, and obtain customer design approval via the produced documents and following our design procedure. The engineer will maintain communication and documentation control between the customer, suppliers, subcontractors, on-site/workshop hydraulic technicians, and will prepare all technical documents, work instructions, RAMS, technical specifications, track material shortages, compile document packs (paper and electronic), and assist with material and equipment preparation. As part of this role, the Hydraulic Engineer will work in the workshop and on-site and be involved in commissioning, fault finding, mechanical assembly, hoses manufacture, rigid piping, flushing and pressure testing.

* Make quotations
* Ensure feasibility
* Provide technical guidance to the customer
* Prepare hydraulic schematics and bill of materials (BOM)
* Prepare engineering drawings or give clear design instructions to the draughtsman
* Work out calculations
* Select and size components
* Optimize system performance and cost
* Resolve problems and improve manufacturability and serviceability of products
* Procurements following project technical, financial and time requirements
* Prepare technical specifications for sub-contractors
* Approve subcontractors design
* Check delivered goods on projects
* Preparation of the work file prior to start the job: prepare detailed work instructions and risk assessments
* Prepare drawings, hydraulic schematics and BOMs
* Plan workshop/onsite work and prepare required tooling
* Plan resources for the workload
* Brief operational team prior to starting a job
* Support operational team for technical operations
* Filling/verifying paperwork during the job
* Ensure compliance with customer requirements
* Control work after completion and issue the as-built final documents
* Prepare the OMM (Operation and Maintenance Manual)
* Compilation of the Documentation Pack
* Review the project KPIs for debriefing
