About the role: As a Lecturer in Maths here at COPC, your role will encompass various responsibilities aimed at providing the very best of learning experiences to our students. Your role will entail designing and delivering lessons and assessing students' progress through assignments / exams. You will also play a key role in curriculum development, staying updated with the A Level Maths and GCSE Maths curriculum and standards to ensure students receive relevant and up to date teaching and learning. Please note that this is a sessional post. It is a variable‑hours contract, and no guaranteed hours are attached to the post. Key Responsibilities: To deliver Maths qualifications (a combination of A Level Maths, A Level Statistics, Core Maths and GCSE re-sit – depending on the staff member) to 16-19 year old learners alongside their academic studies at our Sixth Form campus. Provide constructive feedback and support to students to help them improve their skills and achieve learning outcomes Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum design, program development and quality assurance initiatives Represent COPC with the upmost professionalism with every interaction Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes diversity, equality and respect among all members of the college community. To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you: Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Problem solving abilities in order to resolve issues independently or collaboratively with colleagues Previous experience in a similar role or a background in Mathematics The ability to manage behaviour and set high expectations for students Excellent mathematical subject knowledge (to at least A Level) Teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one Diversity and Inclusion: Equality, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are central to the work of City of Portsmouth College.
