We have an opportunity for a Senior Scientific and Regulatory Affairs - UK/IRL Market Lead (known internally as Program Manager SRA (Science & Regulatory Affairs) UK/IRL) to join Mars. You will lead regional regulatory activities related to raw materials, finished products, labelling, claims, packaging, and support UK/IRL markets. You will provide leadership and guidance on regulatory matters, recommend solutions to bring products to market in the UK, Ireland, and broader regions including EU, CEAB, and Turkey.
You’ll represent Mars externally, participate in industry associations, and be part of a regional organization covering around 40 markets across 7 sites.
This hybrid role involves around 2 days per week based at our Slough site.
Salary from £60,000 plus car allowance and approximately 20% annual bonus.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute external regulatory influencing strategies for UK/IRL.
* Provide regulatory guidance on legislation, maintain knowledge on food law and policy, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
* Influence strategies by advising on regulatory issues, working with legal, consultants, and trade associations.
* Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in UK/IRL, overseeing ingredients, formulas, labelling, and packaging.
* Develop safety and acceptability positions for products and ingredients, leading activities to maintain or gain approvals.
* Lead complex SRA projects with regional and global scope.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in food chemistry, nutrition, biology, chemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, or related field.
* Desirable: Master's degree in similar technical areas.
* Experience in scientific/regulatory compliance within food or related product categories.
* Experience with large-scale regulatory projects, cross-functional collaboration, and working with trade associations and government agencies.
* Strong stakeholder management skills.
