What does a typical day look like?
These are your main tasks:
* Maintenance Management: Develop, implement, and review maintenance programs to minimize equipment failures, increase plant availability, and reduce costs. This includes performing asset criticality assessments, developing and revising maintenance concepts using FMEA, scheduling weekly maintenance activities and managing shutdowns, handling emerging work and scheduled maintenance, and improving maintenance catalogues and managing spare parts/material standardization.
* Reliability Engineering: Drive reliability initiatives to reduce failures and optimize resources. Conduct asset criticality assessments and failure reduction investigations, lead FMEA workshops and reliability analyses, facilitate root cause analysis and implement reliability solutions, manage condition monitoring programmes and self‑assessment audits.
* Collaboration & Performance: Work closely with site leaders, maintenance and engineering managers, and other operational teams to set and achieve goals, objectives, and performance metrics.
Maintenance
* Lead the development of new or improvements to existing maintenance strategies for critical and badly acting assets, focusing on failure reduction, reduced costs and utilisation of resources and technology.
* Lead and develop schedules for maintenance & engineering for daily/weekly activities and shutdowns, working closely with key stakeholders at sites. Develop schedules using SAP & Microsoft Project. Identify critical paths, resource levels and improvement opportunities.
* Work closely with procurement to establish assets and materials that can be standardised and provide opportunities for savings.
* Provide analysis of SAP data and information for notifications, work orders and maintenance plans/items.
* Generate monthly KPIs and report trends, together with maintenance cost trends vs. budget with recommendations and actions for improvement.
* Monitor self‑assessment activities and KPIs to achieve the goals set at the beginning of each year.
Reliability
* Lead and facilitate root‑cause analysis (RCA) sessions, failure modes effect analysis (FMEA) workshops, and progress‑tracking meetings. Work closely with site teams to enhance thought processes and application of the tools.
* Oversee the programme and identification of bad actors (failure reduction, loss elimination and mechanical integrity) and initiate reliability projects for each item.
* Identify predictive maintenance techniques that can be applied to increase plant availability and deploy them where cost‑beneficial.
* Provide guidance and expertise on counter‑measure solutions that could prevent or detect the causes established from investigations and simple problems.
* Oversee the possible solutions through investigations with vendors of design, capabilities, restrictions/limitations, material of construction, specification, costs, etc.
* Lead the Condition Monitoring programme at allocated sites, identifying critical assets, predictive opportunities to increase the reliability of the asset and reduce costs associated with failures.
Decision‑Making Authority
* Agreement on key decisions with stakeholders (site maintenance leaders, site leaders, central and site engineering resources).
* Corrective actions resulting from failure investigations.
* Shutdown plans and associated activities.
* Week‑to‑week maintenance schedules.
Requirements
* University degree in an engineering discipline is preferred or the necessary experience and knowledge, with a proven track record of managing maintenance and reliability programmes, developing maintenance strategies and initiating failure analysis/investigations with improvements evident.
* Experience in Maintenance and/or Reliability role within the chemical industry or other process industries, with minimum 3‑5 years’ experience.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience of managing maintenance execution with shutdown management experience and/or investigating reliability issues through problem‑solving, solution identification, implementation and effectiveness reviews.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective communication with others for whom English is a second language.
* Experience of using SAP‑PM, MM & DMS.
Travel for periods within Europe (typical duration 1 week) when business requires.
