About the role
We are looking for a commercially minded Commercial Analyst to support a specific company within the Group, partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive better decision-making through data and insight. This role focuses on understanding how the business operates, identifying opportunities for value creation, and translating data into clear, actionable commercial recommendations.
You will leverage data from our central Microsoft Fabric platform and use Power BI as a core analysis and visualisation tool, but the emphasis will be less on standardised dashboards and more on deep-dive analysis, insight generation, and business partnering.
Responsibilities
* Partner closely with business leaders and functional teams to understand commercial drivers, performance metrics and business logic.
* Conduct in-depth commercial analysis to identify opportunities, risks, trends and drivers of performance.
* Use Power BI and analytical tools to explore data, create targeted insights and support decision-making.
* Develop ad-hoc and bespoke analytical outputs.
* Translate complex data into clear commercial narratives and recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
* Support budgeting, forecasting, pricing, margin analysis and performance tracking where required.
* Act as a bridge between the business and central Data & BI teams, feeding requirements and insights back into the wider data ecosystem.
* Continuously challenge assumptions and promote a data-driven culture within the business unit.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in a Commercial Analyst, Business Analyst, Finance Analyst, or similar role.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link data insights to business outcomes.
* Advanced analytical skills with experience using Power BI for analysis and insight generation.
* Strong SQL skills and comfort working directly with curated datasets.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and drive analysis end-to-end.
* Strong problem-solving mindset and curiosity with data.
Desirable:
* Experience working within a business-unit aligned or embedded analytics role.
* Exposure to Fabric or modern cloud data platforms.
* Understanding of financial concepts such as revenue, margin, cost drivers and forecasting.
* Experience influencing decisions at senior management level.
* Familiarity with self-service analytics and data governance principles.
Benefits
* 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
* Personal health cash plan – claim back the cost of things like dentist and optical check ups
* Enhanced maternity / paternity / adoption / shared parental pay
* Life assurance: three times basic salary
* Free breakfasts and fruit
* Birthday surprise for everybody!
