The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a fast-growing, global business to appoint a Financial Controller – a key hire as the company continues to scale internationally.
This role is ideally suited to a high-performing Finance Manager ready to step into their first Financial Controller position, offering clear progression, increased ownership, and exposure to a multi-entity, international environment.
Given the importance of team leadership and collaboration, this role is predominantly office-based in Stevenage, enabling you to work closely with and develop the finance team while embedding strong processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Control
1. Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
2. Ownership of consolidated financial reporting across international entities
3. Ensure compliance with IFRS / UK GAAP
4. Preparation of statutory accounts and management of the external audit process
Technical Accounting
5. Act as the internal lead on technical accounting matters (e.g. revenue recognition, leases, group consolidations)
6. Maintain and enhance accounting policies in line with business growth
7. Support the business through complex or non-routine accounting scenarios
Controls & Process Improvement
8. Develop and strengthen financial controls and governance frameworks
9. Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and reporting
10. Support finance systems enhancements and wider transformation initiatives
Team & Stakeholder Management
11. Manage, mentor, and develop a small on-site finance team
12. Work closely with senior stakeholders to ensure strong financial discipline
13. Act as key point of contact for auditors and external advisors
About You
14. Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
15. Currently operating at Finance Manager level or above
16. Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS or UK GAAP)
17. Experience within a multi-entity or international business
18. Confident leading reporting processes and managing audits
19. A hands-on leader who enjoys developing teams in a face-to-face environment
20. Keen to take the step into (or further develop within) a Financial Controller role
