There are different types of placements you can provide as a carer that can work around your current commitments and offer a modest payment based on the level of support you provide.
Types of Placements
1. Full-time placement:
This involves a person living with you on a long-term basis. You will provide a furnished bedroom, allowing the person to have their own private space. You are expected to encourage the individual to be part of the family and share daily life experiences. Placements are facilitated via a phased approach, including supported sessions, tea visits, and overnight stays. Each placement includes up to 28 days of respite per year.
2. Respite / short-term break:
A person stays overnight or longer, either as a one-off or regular arrangement. This is also phased at a pace comfortable for both parties.
3. Emergency support:
Support is provided at short notice due to a personal or family crisis. These placements are closely managed to ensure safety and well-being.
4. Day support:
Support can be provided for up to 4, 4-6, or 6-8 hours. The time can be used for shared interests or exploring new opportunities in the community.
