The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead is looking for a Housing Policy and Procurement Officer to join a forward-thinking Housing service. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of housing policy, commissioning activity, and the delivery of strategic projects that directly support vulnerable residents and improve housing outcomes across the borough.
How You’ll Make an Impact
* Supporting the development and review of housing policies, strategies and procedures, ensuring they reflect legislation, guidance and local needs
* Assisting with the commissioning, procurement and contract management of housing-related services
* Contributing to the design and delivery of key housing projects, including temporary accommodation, traveller sites, modular housing, safe accommodation for domestic abuse survivors, and rough sleeper initiatives
* Researching and analysing housing data, legislation and best practice to inform project work and strategic decision-making
* Supporting IT and data-related improvements within the Housing service, including statutory returns and system-based projects
* Working collaboratively with partners such as housing associations, central government, voluntary sector organisations and internal council teams to enable effective project delivery
How We’ll Know You’re the Right Fit
* Experience working within a Local Housing Authority, Registered Provider, government agency, consultancy or similar in a housing strategy, development or enabling capacity
* Strong understanding of the social housing environment, homelessness duties, and how key housing functions interact
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt your style across partners and audiences
* Highly organised and able to manage multiple competing projects in a fast-paced environment
* Confident working with data, legislation, policy documents and analytical tasks
* Motivated, proactive and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes
* Desirable: a relevant professional qualification or CIH membership, knowledge of development and planning processes, understanding of IT/data issues in the public sector
How It All Comes Together
* Working Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
* Duration: 3 months (potential for extension)
* Contract: Employed by Reed, on a temporary assignment with Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
* Payrate: £17.09 to £19.07 per hour (negotiable), paid weekly one week in arrears
* Location: Town Hall, St Ives Rd, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 1RF (onsite full time)
