We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant to join the HIV/Sexual Health & Contraception team in Brighton – the first UK Fast Track City.
This is a substantive post,10 sessions negotiable, joining the team of 8.3 WTE consultants providing integrated Sexual Health, Contraception and HIV services within the Brighton arm of University Hospitals Sussex NHS trust.
The post will provide HIV inpatient care alongside other colleagues for a minimum of 14 weeks/year as well as being a key member of the team delivering a high quality fully integrated Sexual Health, Contraception service in Brighton & Hove and will encompass the full spectrum of specialist clinical work, supervision and training of nursing, junior medical staff and medical students and participation in research and service improvement.
The post holder will be part of the senior management team and will be expected to contribute to the administration and leadership of the department and participate in clinical governance and quality improvement as well as CME.
The post holder will be part of the non resident on-call rota (1:10) which includes staffing a Saturday sexual Health clinic (10.00-14.00) and covering HIV inpatients in RSCH and other HIV inpatients in Brighton and Hove) and providing telephone advice for inpatients across the Sussex HIV network.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
· Provide a regular HIV clinic, including the supporting activities such as viral load meetings, relevant M&M and Therapeutics and Protocol meetings etc.
· Provide HIV inpatient care for a minimum of 14 weeks of the year
· Support admission avoidance activity within the Lawson Unit through the triage and assessment of patients
· Provide complex case management as part of routine clinics, and in a specialist joint clinic as required
· Take part and lead routine sexual health and contraception clinics
· Take part in a Saturday sexual health clinic 1:10 when on call
· Work closely / liaise with colleagues / external agencies
· Support junior colleagues in clinics to provide excellent care for patients
· To ensure there is appropriate specialist service provision during the working week across all clinical sites, with expert advice available for other service providers

Essential criteria
1. MRCP, etc. or its recognised equivalent.
2. Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. • If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Specialty or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. • If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
