Human Health Project is seeking an Education & Online Learning Specialist. This role requires developing and implementing HHP’s training programme for patient advocates/navigators, as well as the education programme for patients. Human Health Project (HHP) is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals increase their health knowledge through the sharing of health information. HHP collects, analyzes, and shares health information to empower and inform individuals to achieve better health outcomes. Human Health Project‘s (HHP) foundation is built upon peer-to-peer health information, education, and support. Through our programs, our objective is to empower individuals locally and globally to manage their health. HHP is seeking a Broadcast Journalist

In this role, you will interview patients and caregivers about their experiences navigating the healthcare system. Since video is a powerful tool for telling and sharing patient journeys, the goal of the video series is to highlight HHP’s Patient Advocacy programme, convey the importance of being an advocate for yourself and those in your care, and to demonstrate how patient advocates serve a critical role in receiving the best healthcare.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

* Generating ideas for stories involving patient experiences
* Investigating resources to find interview participants
* Researching potential stories through personal contacts, the internet and other sources
* Deciding on the most appropriate angle to approach the story
* Booking and briefing interviewees
* Recording interviews - in person, via telephone, or conducting them live
* Speaking directly to a video camera
* Finding appropriate images or sounds - either by recording fresh material, or retrieving them from library stock
* Writing introductions and scripting material for questions to be asked
* Adapting material for use in other formats and programmes.
* Helping to bring awareness and support for HHPs programmes


Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communications, Film, and/or other related field
* 3 - 5 years experience of writing or editing in television/broadcast environment
* 3 - 5 years producing professional broadcasting marketing/promotions/creative services experiences preferred

* Articulate, professional, credible, & ethical
* Clear and professional broadcasting voice
* Compassionate and caring manner
* Persuasiveness and the ability to draw information from people
* Knowledge of what makes a compelling story and how best to present it to particular audiences
* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
* Ability to think creatively and see all potential angles of a story
* Effective under the pressure of deadlines
* Objective, fair and balanced in the treatment of stories
* Technical knowledge and skills in using a range of audio and/or visual equipment
* Attention to detail and extremely accurate
* Knowledge of the law, ethics and industry regulation as they affect medical journalists
* Professional appearance
* Experience within the healthcare industry
* Strong rapport building skills and the ability to develop relationships at all levels including patients, patient groups and other health organizations
* Highly self-motivated
* Team player with a flexible approach
* Motivated and passionate about HHP’s mission
