PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £36,400 - £41,800 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

This role is advertised as part of our BBC Extend programme for disabled people. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the Digital team at BBC Wales News and help us set the pace in visual journalism. As a Video Journalist, you'll create impact-led digital video and graphics that travel across app, site and social, and contribute to TV, radio, iPlayer and Sounds.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Work independently or as part of a team to initiate, produce, shoot, write, edit and sub-edit digital and social videos and graphics; routinely self-shoot complete packages to the highest standards.
* Deliver live coverage for digital (including live streaming) and contribute to linear programmes and iPlayer commissions.
* Originate and develop ideas that set the daily agenda and reflect Wales' diversity; tailoring treatments by platform and audience, using data and trends.
* Collaborate across the newsroom to share material, avoid duplication and uphold best practice and safety.
* Help to improve others—pass on skills through training and mentoring; uphold editorial, legal and health & safety standards.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* You're an ambitious, creative video journalist with a track record of impactful digital/social video and graphics, including in breaking-news situations.
* You combine high editorial judgment, sharp writing and proven craft in shooting and editing with the ability to deliver live/broadcast content for digital and linear.
* You are a self-starter, able to spot trends quickly and use audience insight to shape ideas with speed and accuracy.
* You're a collaborative team-player who shares skills, upholds BBC standards and thrives in a fast, multi-platform environment.
* Welsh language skills are an advantage; a commitment to serving audiences in both languages is essential.
