Head of Finance
Brimscombe, Stroud - office-based with occasional travel to other sites
Up to £50,000 depending on experience
35 hours per week + 6% employer pension contribution + modern office environment and supportive, values-led culture
Our client, a leading charity focused on social justice, recovery and community support, is hiring a Head of Finance.
With an income of around £13m, largely delivered through multi-year contracts, the organisation is looking for a Head of Finance to strengthen financial control, governance and advocacy. This is a key leadership role, ensuring robust management information, clear insight and strong financial stewardship to support long-term sustainability.
What you’ll do
Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans
Review management accounts, identify risks and opportunities, and provide clear narrative and recommendations
Oversee day-to-day financial operations, treasury and cash flow management
Ensure timely and accurate management accounts, variance analysis, KPIs and board reporting
Coordinate statutory accounts preparation and the external audit process
What we’re looking for
A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Experience in a financial management role within a small or medium-sized organisation
Proven line management experience, ideally leading and developing a junior or early-career fina nce team
Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and risk identification
Solid IT skills, particularly with accounting software and Excel, and experience improving financial processes or systems
Experience in the charity, not-for-profit or public sector (not essential)
Understanding of charity finance, VAT, tax and fundraising income streams (not essential)

Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working as a business partner to non-finance colleagues
Highly discreet, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and governance
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with a willingness to travel occasionally between sites, is required.
